DROGBA HEAPS PRAISE ON MANCHESTER UNITED STAR

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has heaped a lot of praise on Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo, insisting that the young attacker is pure talent and one who already has a bright future ahead of him. It is always a rare occurrence for Chelsea’s current or past players to hail United’s stars because of the rivalry that exists between the two clubs but Drogba’s recent actions have been because he shares the same nationality with Diallo.

Amad Diallo was signed by Manchester United from Italian Serie A side Atalanta last summer but was allowed to continue with the club where he spent the remainder of the season on loan. He then officially joined the Red Devils in January and has been showing glimpses of being a worthy purchase. The youngster has earned the love of the Manchester United fans who have been calling on United manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær to give him more minutes under his belt.

ESSIEN CONGRATULATES MOURINHO ON ROMA JOB

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has congratulated José Mourinho on his latest appointment as the new manager of Italian Serie A giants AS Roma. The former African star footballer was a machine of a player under Mourinho as the pair spent time together at Chelsea where they had a couple of fine moments together.

Mourinho recently lost his job as Tottenham Hotspur manager back in April as Daniel Levy decided it was time to let go of the Portuguese manager because he was no longer recording positive results. Shortly after losing his managerial role at the London club, Mourinho was appointed as a special pundit for talkSPORT where he was expected to be an official anchor for football games in Europe’s finest leagues.

AFCON 2021: 23 TEAMS CONFIRMED

23 teams have been confirmed for the 2021edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). The 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon was initially scheduled for this summer butit has now been postponed till January 2022.

Cameroon are the hosts of the 2021 AFCON tournament, which is the 33rd edition of the most prestigious tournament in African football. Cameroon won Group F during the qualifiers for the tournament and secured qualification for the tournament alongside Cape Verde, who finished second in the same group.

Is Salah The Messi Of African Football?

Following his record at Liverpool since joining the Anfield club, Mohamed Salah is already regarded as one of the best wingers in Premier League history, attracting comparisons to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, and the likes. Salah probably didn’t see a day like this coming when he was at Chelsea given that he was rarely given a chance to prove himself and show what he was truly capable of. Under José Mourinho’s tenure at Stamford Bridge, a lot of talented players were allowed to leave the club, including Salah.

Upon his exit from Stamford Bridge, Salah knew he had to take whatever chance he gets next to prove that his former manager was wrong to have let allowed him to leave. He then joined Italian Serie A side AS Roma where he would go on to establish himself as a superb player. At Roma, the Egyptian forward developed into a true forward and became a prolific goalscorer. He was in a blistering form and enjoying his football until Liverpool came knocking that they wanted to have him.

EZE IS A KEY PLAYER – WRIGHT

Arsenal legend Ian Wright is sure that African football export Ebere Eze has become a key player for Premier League club Crystal Palace. The African football export EbereEze has impressed a great deal for London team Crystal Palace since he made the move to the Eagles from the English Championship. African football export EbereEze signed for Crystal Palace from Queens Park Rangers in the second tier of English club football. The Eagles paid £16m to secure his signature last summer and he has been one of the most exciting young wingers in the Premier League this season.


Ian Wright spoke about EbereEze and his quality while he was on Premier League TV on Tuesday night. The ex-Arsenal and Crystal Palace hitman was reacting to the performance of EbereEze during the win at the home of Newcastle United on Tuesday night. EbereEze starred as Crystal Palace came from behind to beat hosts Newcastle United in their backyard. Newcastle United took the lead very early in the game through midfielder Jonjo Shelvey. GHANA OVERTURNS BEHIND-CLOSED-DOOR DIRECTIVE ON PREMIER LEAGUE

The Ghanaian government has announced that it has now lifted the directive it placed on the Premier League which saw them play football matches behind closed doors. The directive was imposed after the widespread of the coronavirus outbreak but according to the government of Ghana, fans can now be allowed into stadiums even though there is a restriction to a maximum of just 25 per cent of the stadium’s capacity.


The government also said that this is not a medium to break the covid-19 protocols as breaching of the guidelines would not be tolerated. It advised that everyone should do well to exercise safety protocols and health guidelines so the spread can be contained while some more activities can commence. NIGERIA’S OLA AINA MAKES HISTORY WITH THIS PL AWARD

 

Fulham United right-back Ola Aina has written his name in history books after bagging the Premier League goal of the month award. The young defender is a former Chelsea star having come through the youth ranks of the Blues at Stanford Bridge.


He is currently on loan at Fulham from Italian club Torino and he is already proving to be a good acquisition at the London club.

African Football Struck by COVID-19 Pandemic

 

African football is now struck with the COVID-19 pandemic as many of the players have been tested positive during recent weeks. The worst part of this pandemic situation came in front when Moroccan Club Raja Casablanca had to cancel their trip to Egypt for the semi-final of the CAF Champions League. 8 of their front line players were tested COVID-19 positive and thus they didn’t have enough of their players to form the team even.


Amid this crisis, the Moroccan government has withdrawn their special permission for the team to travel to foreign countries for football matches. Raja Casablanca lost their home match against the same team at their home ground and was all set to play the return match to get a place in the finals of the CAF Champions League. They had to win the match by 2-0 at least as they lost to the away side in their home game.

Nigerian football president backs Victor Osimhen to become a hit at Napoli

 

The president of the Nigerian Football Federation has backed Victor Osimhen to enjoy a successful career in the Serie A with Napoli. The 21-year-old is expected to join the Naples outfit in a club-record deal in the coming days and there will be plenty of expectations on his shoulders next season as the main striker.

Speaking to reporters, Amaju Pinnick, who is the president of the NFF, said that Osimhen is an excellent signing for Napoli and the striker has made the right decision to join them, he told: “I think Victor Osimhen is an excellent signing for Napoli. I’ve followed them from when they had Diego Armando Maradona. Naples is a proud city and also in football terms.

Chris Sutton believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will leave Arsenal

 

Former Celtic star Chris Sutton believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will head through the exit door after the recent comments made in the French media. The Gabon international has been reluctant to pen a new deal with Arsenal over the past year and that has led to suggestions that he could be heading through the exit door, particularly with his current contract due to expire at the end of next season.


In a recent interview, the 31-year-old confirmed that he has yet to negotiate a new deal with the Gunners and added that he would like to win things during the backend of his career. This has led to suggestions that he could move on from the capital outfit and Sutton believes a number of high-profile clubs could be looking to sign him in the next transfer window.
